The Third Option

We are a CPA firm for small businesses and the people who own them. Federal and state tax, accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, and planning — handled by an accountant who answers the phone.

Software is cheaper than we are and it is never accountable. A national tax shop is accountable to nobody in particular. We are the third option: a firm small enough to know your file and licensed to stand behind it.

Mission and Vision

  • Mission

To give every small business the accounting, tax and advisory work that used to be reserved for companies ten times their size.

  • Vision

To be the firm America's small businesses reach for first — as reachable as the software, as accountable as a person.

Who Does the Work

Every return we file is read and signed by a licensed CPA before it goes out. Not checked by software and signed by whoever was free — read by a CPA, whose name is on the filing.

Transaction-level bookkeeping runs on software. It categorizes what it can, and a person reviews what it could not and corrects what it got wrong. Everything above that line — the close, the reconciliations, the statements, the planning and the advice — is done by a CPA.

On recurring work it is the same CPA each period rather than whoever picks up the ticket, which is most of what a small firm is for: the person reading your file this month read it last month, and remembers why last month looked the way it did.

The work stays in the United States and it stays with our own team — the people we employ and US-based contractors we engage and supervise directly. Nothing is sent to an offshore preparation service.

Access to your file is limited to the people working on it. Records stay inside our practice systems rather than being copied onto personal devices or third-party tools.

Documents move through a client portal, not an email attachment and not a form on this website — there is no upload field on this site, for exactly that reason. Your return and your bank statements carry your Social Security number, EIN and account numbers, and a web form is the wrong pipe for those.

No Hourly Bill, and a Call Returned

Work is quoted as a fixed price in writing before it starts. Where the work has an end date — a return, a clean-up, a piece of analysis — that is a project fee. Where it is ongoing, it is a fixed monthly or weekly fee. The number follows the scope: transaction volume, how many entities and states are involved, whether there is a transaction or a new state this year, and how clean the records are.

Not billing hourly is a decision about behaviour rather than about pricing. A phone call in the middle of a decision costs you nothing, which is the only way advice actually gets asked for. A firm that bills by the hour teaches its clients not to call.

Advisory is the hard case, and we price it as one of two things rather than pretending it is one. A standing advisory engagement is a fixed fee for a cadence — a scheduled slot and a commitment to answer — because what can be estimated honestly is when we are available, not how many questions you are going to have.

Anything that needs modelling or a written conclusion is scoped as its own piece of work, with its own fee, before it starts. An entity election, a reasonable-compensation analysis, a nexus review: a defined question, a defined answer, a number agreed in advance.

The exception is representation. If the IRS or a state opens an examination, the other side sets the pace and the scope, and a fixed fee quoted before anyone knows what is being asked for would be a number we could not stand behind. That work is agreed in stages, in writing, one stage at a time.

If the records need rebuilding before the ongoing work can start, we say so and price that separately rather than burying it in a monthly fee. If we are not the right firm for what you need, we say that too, in the first thirty minutes rather than the third month.

What We Stand For

  • Confidentiality first

Client information never moves faster than it moves safely.

  • Accuracy over confidence

We cite the rule, show the work, and say plainly when we are not sure.

  • In time to matter

Advice before the deadline, not a report after it.

  • Plain language

If we cannot explain it to you, we do not understand it well enough yet.

  • We answer

A call returned, an email answered, a name on the file.
